The film Lipstick Under My Burkha was disapproved by the censor board and it received a heavy amount of backlash from them. Why do you think this must have happened? As per my understanding, the film talks about people who are not MEN. Which is why we made a big deal out of it. Had it been about a hero and a heroine being chased by goons and how their ideal love story shapes, it wouldn’t have been a great deal.
There are four girls in the film who hide their 'deep secrets' under their burkha. Good old-fashioned stuff in today's era. And why exactly do they do so? Well, it is because of people like us who are not ready to accept change and the fact that there is someone out there who is thinking about herself.
From women questioning about their decision making power to them being treated as a baby-making machine; the film highlights all issues which suffocate HER but how we never pay attention to them. Now, coming back to the subject; you must be thinking why am I sharing the storyline of the film with you? It is because not just Bua Ji, Rehana, Shireen and Leela but all women, ALL of them hide something under their burkha because people lack the quality of compassion and acceptance.
