On September 18, 2016, an Indian Army brigade was attacked by heavily armed militants in the town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. Media reports suggested that it was the deadliest attacks that the Army had witnessed in 20 years and over 17 soldiers had lost their lives.
It was in response to this attack that the Indian Army carried out a surgical strike on the lands of Pakistan. A term we all heard for the first time and never forgot ever since.
