In yet another to promote gender equality, the Kerala Police has formed its first batch of all-women batch. The batch constitutes of 578 members, who have also been trained under women instructors. The batch completed its training at the Kerala Police Academy at Ramavarmapuram in the Thrissur district, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan taking the salute. Another feather that the battalion has added to its cap is the facet that 44 of them have undergone commando training too.
It has been in the news that the CRPF in Kashmir has been planning to deploy women contingent for a while but its too refreshing to see that the Kerala Police has already acted upon it.
The official Twitter handle of Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan broke the news on July 30. "Tomorrow, the first Women’s Battalion of Kerala Police will come into being. CM Pinarayi Vijayan will take salute at the passing-out parade of the first battalion at the parade ground of Kerala Police Academy," the tweet read.
